Our mission

Our mission is simple: we want to provide people with the knowledge they need to work safely and efficiently so they can go home healthy at the end of their day.

We understand that safety costs money, but unsafe work costs more; lives, livelihoods, health, money, reputations, and peace of mind. We want to work with businesses to simplify and streamline their safety program to make it as accessible and successful as possible.

We believe that everyone should go home safely after work. No one should have to receive or make a phone call that will negatively change a love one's life forever. No one wants to explain to a family why their loved one isn't coming home.

After working as a Safety Coordinator at a construction company for four years, Heather Thomas attained her National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO®) designation and started Sentinel Safety Services in 2023.

In November 2024, Heather was honoured to receive The Carla Milne Outstanding Woman in the Industry Award at the annual Construction Association of Rural Manitoba (CARM) Awards.

Heather was nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards in the Trades, Science, and Technology category in early 2024.

Sentinel Safety Services caters to a variety of clients and provides training to all different age demographics. Whether she is visiting a school and preparing the next generation entering the workforce, or providing a new perspective to those who have been working a while, Heather loves meeting new people and helping them go home safely at the end of the day.
“Safety comes with costs, but it always costs much less to be proactive than reactive."
